Work in progress: ‘It doesn’t rustle’

AUG 2020 / Since the summer of 2020 I have been working on the project ‘It doesn’t rustle / Het ritselt niet’.The Covid-19 circumstances asked for some adaptations of the original plan. What started as an idea for a woven sculpture and the fascination for the repetitive act of weaving, has turned into an investigation of weaving materials, the meaning of weaving, and the functionality of a basket.

Centre of this investigation is an object woven from willow rods that functions as a prototype for a basket with specific characteristics. You will probably be able to see the prototype at the HABITUS exhibition at 37PK in Haarlem (expected mid-April 2021).

This project is generously supported by Stichting Stokroos, Stichting Niemeijer Fonds and Cultuurstimuleringsfonds gemeente Haarlem
